A Baby Quilt in Brown
When I was first told that the parents-to-be had decorated the baby's room in brown tones and that would be the colour of choice for all gifts I had to take a deep cleansing breath. Brown for a sweet new baby?? But, I worked my way around and through the ideas and came up with this log cabin idea, inserting a little hit of blue with an animal print as the centre block because, well.... I just had to.
The back of the quilt is pieced with many of the fabrics of the front and has a personalized dedication.
I was pleasantly surprised by how pleasing the colours worked out. I would have never chosen brown, but being forced into a new colour palette helped me find new possibilities.
It actually looks great with wood floors and bouquet of yellow tulips in a vase (that I made too)
Why not brown, indeed!
